HPAY: send to an @name
This guide shows you how to send QUAI to a friend by typing their Hartii @name. It takes about two minutes.
Who it's for: anyone who wants to pay someone on Quai without copying a long address.
What you'll need
- A Pelagus wallet (desktop browser extension) or the Blip app (on mobile, open the page inside Blip).
- Enough QUAI for the amount you want to send plus a small network fee (gas).
- Your wallet switched to Quai Mainnet (chain 9).
Steps
- Open hartiibiome.com/hpay. The Send to @name tab is selected by default.
- In Send to, type the person's
@name(3 to 16 letters, numbers or_) or paste a Quai address that starts with0x00. HPAY looks the name up on-chain before anything is sent. If it works, you will see who it resolves to. - In Amount (QUAI), type how much to send, for example
5. Up to 18 decimal places are allowed. - Optional: open More options and add a Memo (optional), up to 140 characters. The memo is a note for the share link, not part of the on-chain transaction, so never put private information in it.
- Press Review send. A Confirm payment card appears showing To, the full Address, Amount and Network fee (first it says "Estimating…", then a number).
- Check the address and amount carefully. This is your last chance to catch a typo.
- Press Connect Pelagus (or Connect Blip) and approve the connection in your wallet.
- Press the Send button, which now shows the amount (for example "Send 5 QUAI"). Your wallet opens a prompt. Check the address, amount and network again, then approve.
What you'll see after sending
- First: Sent. Waiting for confirmation on-chain. and a Transaction link. "Sent" only means your wallet handed over a transaction.
- A moment later: Confirmed on-chain. That is the real "it arrived" signal.
- If you see Still pending, wait and use the Transaction link to check its status on Quaiscan.
- If you see The transaction was mined but failed (status 0), nothing was delivered, though gas may still have been used.
Fees and limits
- HPAY charges no service fee. You pay only the network gas, shown on the confirmation card before you sign.
- It is a plain QUAI transfer; the asset is always QUAI.
- Memo: 140 characters at most.
Common mistakes
- Wrong network. If you see "Wrong network — switch your wallet to Quai Mainnet (chain 9) to continue.", switch networks in your wallet and try again.
- Qi address. HPAY sends QUAI and refuses Qi-ledger addresses: "That is a Qi-ledger address, not a Quai one. HPAY sends QUAI — use a Quai address." Ask the person for their Quai address (starts with
0x00) or their @name. - Name not found. "No Hartii profile owns @name" means the name is not registered. Double-check the spelling with the person.
- Not enough QUAI. You need the amount plus gas. Top up and review again.
- Wallet changed. If you switch accounts or networks mid-way, HPAY says "Wallet changed. Review the recipient and amount again before sending." Press Review send again.
- Pending for a long time. Open the Transaction link on Quaiscan and wait. Never send the payment again until you have checked; you could pay twice.
- Sharing a prefilled link. A link like
hartiibiome.com/hpay?to=@name&amount=5only fills in the form. Nobody can send from it without approving in their own wallet.
